Orienteering Merit Badge Workshop 2015
Ingersoll Scout Reservation
Saturday September 26th at 9:00am through Sunday at noon
Weekend camping is available at Ingersoll – make arrangements through Diann at W.D. Boyce Council (309) 673-6136
If scouts don’t wish to camp, they can come for only the Saturday portion of the workshop.
Workshop fee $10/scout. Please register below through PayPal. Registration is limited to 50 participants.
Registration closes Sept 21st
Scouts will:
-earn nearly all of the requirements for the Orienteering Merit Badge.
-participate in three orienteering courses
-have fun
The only requirement that will not be covered by this workshop is requirements 8, 9, and 10. For these requirements, the scouts will set up an orienteering course for their troop, marshall the event, and teach orienteering to their troop.

Workshop schedule:
Saturday
9:00 am: Workshop begins
9:10 – 10:30 am: Workshop activities
10:30 – 10:40 am: break
10:40 am – 12:00 am: Workshop activities
12:00 am – 1:00 pm: lunch (scouts/troops bring their own lunch)
1:00 – 2:30pm: Workshop activities continue
2:45 – 4:45 pm: Orienteering Course #1 (easy course)
4:45 pm – 7:15 pm: dinner break (Scouts/troops bring their own dinner)
7:15 pm – 9:00 pm: Orienteering Course #2 (bring headlamps)
Sunday
8:00 – 10:30am: Orienteering Couse #3 (cross country course – wear long pants)
10:30 – 12:00: Blue card signoff / scouts pack up.
Scouts/troops will be expected to bring their own food. Be prepared for all types of weather. The workshop will take place if it rains. We will break and take shelter for severe weather though. Scouts should bring the following:
-Orienteering compass if you have one (we will have extras to loan out if you don’t have one).
-meals and snacks
-Proper clothing for all types of weather
-A good attitude and a willingness to learn
