We had perfect weather for an orienteering meet at Kinsey park on Saturday September 28th.  Overcast skies kept the temperature comfortable.  The undergrowth is starting to recede a little helping to make it not quite as thick as summer months, although there are still plenty of thorns to deal with.  There were 19 starts total, with 11 starts on the orange course, 6 on Yellow, and 2 on White.  Thanks to Charli Gregory for help picking up some controls after the meet.

One exciting thing we have after this meet comes to our attention from member Matt Plutz.  He uploaded our maps to the site Usynligo where you can print any of the Kinsey course maps.  If you install that app on your phone, you are able to run the courses and your phone will alert you when you get within a certain proximity of each control circle.  There aren't any controls out on the course, so don't look for any, just navigate to the feature.  Also, the app will provide you with "hints" and let you know where you are if you get lost and need some help, so it's a good training tool if you wanted to try out the orange course.

On your home computer, click on this link above to show a map of the world.  Zoom into illinois and the kinsey area, there will only be two maps in the peoria area.  select Kinsey and it will show the links to the maps that you can print off.

On your phone, simply install the app, you can log in anonymously and then have it use your location to find maps close to you.  You'll see Kinsey, select it, then you can choose your course.  When you get to the start location for the map you chose, press the start button and you are off!
