Comlara Canoe-O Report
George Mattson was our host and put together 3 great course of canoe/kayak orienteering. The easy course was about 2k with all controls able to be accessed from the canoe. The medium course was about 4k with most controls accessed from the canoe but some were a short distance up trails. The hard course was about 6k with about half of the controls a short distance off the water.
We had excellent weather for the Canoe-O. It was a warm day, so made for a nice day to be out on the water instead of in the woods. Everybody had a good time with the courses, even though some of us (ie. your webmaster) had some trouble getting in and out of their kayak and dumped a few times (if anyone found a nice pair of Julbo sunglasses floating around CP47 please email us).
Scott Fredrickson was first place in the hard course, but he worked for it. He shortened the distance by portaging his kayak several times.
Thanks Scott Fredrickson, Mike Duncan, John Roxworthy, and Dale Hoffman for helping out with the setup and cleanup of the event.
