6 Hour Rogaine - Jubilee College State Park - April 14, 2018

Registration
What is a Rogaine?  It stands for "Rugged Outdoor Group Activity Involving Navigation and Endurance".  Unlike a standard O-Meet where you need to find the controls in a prescribed order, in the Rogaine you can find the controls in any order you choose. This involves a bit more strategy and mapping skills, which adds to the fun.  The goal is to find as many controls as you can (or want to) within the 6 hour time limit.

Unlike a standard meet, we need to have participants register in advance for this event. Registration for is CLOSED.  See you on Saturday.

As a Thank You to our IRVOC Members, there is a $5 discount available for those with Active memberships.  For a team, the discount can apply if anyone on the team is a member. Please choose the correct option from the payment menu.  If you need to know if your membership is Active, please see the Meet and Membership Info page.  If you would like to purchase or renew your membership you can do it through this page as well.

ROGAINE:  As in past years there will be two maps, one north and one south.  There will be 46 controls total (23 on each map).  You will pick one of the maps to start with, and leave the other by the start/finish.  There is a map exchange and download after you are done with the first map (you do not need to get all cp's, just get the cp's you want, but you cannot go back to the first map after turning it in).  The cut-off is 6 hours from when you started, and there will be a 1 control penalty per minute you arrive to the finish after the 6 hour cut-off.

Each map is approximately 10.5km per the route choice of the meet director. (you choose your own route, so your length may vary).  The maps will be pre-printed 11x17 paper, and a plastic sleeve will be provided, the sleeve will need to be taped closed to fully waterproof the map.

Required safety gear: whistle, first aid kit.

We will be using our electronic controls for this event.  If you have a personal SI-stick please bring that along.  Also, don't forget to bring an extra pair of dry shoes/socks/clothes for after the event for a comfortable ride home!

REGULAR MEET:  There will also be an opportunity to run a typical orienteering course if you do not wish to participate in the ROGAINE.  There will be three choices, White (2.0km), Yellow (3.0km), and Orange (4.4km).  Start times for the regular meet begin at 10am through 12 Noon.  Regular meet fees apply.

As this is a large event, more volunteers than normal are needed.  Please email us if you are willing to help!
